Marrakech and its medina
The Medina of Marrakech is distinguished by its long ocher-colored ramparts which had the function of protecting its inhabitants from any external attack. Today, the walls of the Old City charm tourists and locals who rub shoulders in a setting of a thousand and one nights. Let yourself wander through a labyrinth of small alleys, in the middle of the souks where colors and scents will intoxicate you. The famous Jemaa-el-Fna square, the heart of the Medina, is the ideal starting point for many visits.
Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Marrakech is a city of arts and history that can be appreciated during a visit to a palace or museum. Among the unmissable ones we can mention: the Badi Palace, the Bahia Palace, the House of Photography or the Medersa Ben Youssef.
Beyond the ramparts
The attraction of Marrakech also lies in its surrounding landscapes. The Ourika Valley, known for its 7 waterfalls, is located in a sumptuous setting between Berber villages and mountainsides. The opportunity to enjoy a good tagine and meet the locals. Take to the skies and discover the Atlas on the Yaggour plateau at an altitude of 1600m. The Agafay desert, with its rocky dunes and lunar landscapes, is also worth a look.
Excursions of one or more days are possible and will allow you to visit other cities in Morocco. On the road to the South, Ouarzazate and its Kasbahs welcome you in a cinema setting. A little further, live the experience of the Sahara and its dunes in Merzouga or Zagora.
